Valencia Basket will play the Euroleague by invitation

Valencia Basket returns to the continental elite. Finally, the taronja team and Partizan Belgrade will play the Euroleague next season by invitation, occupying the places of the two Russian teams. It will be the first time that the Fonteta club will participate in this competition thanks to a ‘wild card’, since on previous occasions they have qualified directly for their results on the track.

CSKA Moscow and Zenit Saint Petersburg have been excluded from continental competition. «Valencia Basket will be one of the 18 teams participating in the 2022-23 edition of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague after the ECA Shareholders’ Meeting held this morning has awarded it a Wild Card for a campaign to participate in the maximum continental competition as associated club. It will be the seventh participation of Valencia Basket in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, the fourth in the last six editions. This decision left the list of participating teams for the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague at 16: ALBA Berlin, Anadolu Efes Istanbul, AX Armani Exchange Milan, FC Barcelona, ​​FC Bayern Munich, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, Olympiacos Piraeus, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens, Real Madrid and Zalgiris Kaunas as teams with license contracts, AS Monaco after earning permanence after getting their place in the 7DAYS EuroCup 2020-21, Virtus Segafredo Bologna as champion of the 7DAYS EuroCup 2021-22 and Crvena Zvezda MTS Belgrade as Adriatic League champions 2021-22. To fill the two vacancies and complete the list of 18 participating teams, the ECA shareholders’ board has decided to award two Wild Cards for the 2022-23 season to Partizan NIS Belgrade and Valencia Basket”, they have reported from the taronja team.

This is an invitation for a season.
