United States of America confirmed to pass to 2023 U-20 World Cup. Tickets to Indonesia are obtained after beating Costa Rica with a score of 2-0.
The CONCACAF U-20 Cup is currently being held from 18 June to 3 July in Honduras. The four teams that made it through to the semifinals are entitled to appear in the U-20 World Cup next year.
In the quarter-final match which was held at the Estadio Morazan, Wednesday (29/6/2022) WIB, the US won 2-0 thanks to goals scored by Paxten Aaronson in the 5th and 49th minutes. This result made the US qualify for the U-World Cup. 20 for the 17th time since 1981.
Not only the US, Honduras as the host also qualified after fending off Panama 2-1 at the same location even though they had fallen behind first. This is the eighth qualification since the first time participating in 1977 ago.
CONCACAF still has two tickets left for the U-20 World Cup and will be contested between the Dominican Republic vs. Jamaica and Guatemala vs. Mexico, who will play in the quarter-finals tomorrow, Thursday (30/6/2022) morning WIB.
The US and Honduras became the 7th and 8th countries of the 24 participant slot. Apart from Indonesia as the host, there were already England, Italy, Israel, France, and Slovakia who had already confirmed the place.
The remaining 16 slots will go to representatives of Africa (four), Asia (four), Oceania (two), South America (four) and CONCACAF (two). The Indonesia U-20 World Cup will be held on 20 May-11 June 2023.
