Trust the process? Vincent Kompany talks about “transition period” at Burnley at 1st press conference | The Championship

Vincent Kompany appeared relaxed today at his first press conference as head coach of Burnley. With a broad smile, but without any big statements, he told about the future plans of the brand new Premier League relegation.

A discourse that looked suspiciously like a new “trust the process” story.

“Of course there are still a lot of question marks around the start of the season”, Vincent Kompany opened the press conference. “If you are relegated as a club, you simply lose something to hold on to.”

“We also saw some strong players leave. We are going to try to return to the Premier League as soon as possible, but if that doesn’t work, it’s no drama.”

“Now we are mainly in a transition period, where we have to develop players and thus forge a “new” team. It will not be easy – as often in the football world – to keep everyone calm during the trajectory.”

“But I have been given time by the club, so our ambition must be feasible. I am very happy that I have received a contract of five years. I am therefore here to stay and ready to tackle any scenario to go.”

Kompany therefore exchanges Anderlecht’s project for Burnley’s project. A conscious choice. “I didn’t have to leave Anderlecht and I had a whole range of offers. Burnley and his plans for the future convinced me.”
