The Unwavering Capitals | The Journal of Quebec

After a rare loss on Sunday, the Capitales de Québec reaffirmed their dominance of the Frontier League by beating the New York Boulders 5-3 on Tuesday in Pomona.

The “Caps” (22-5) sprung in the fifth inning by adding four points to their counter to defeat the Boulders (13-15).

After managing to limit the damage in the first four innings, Robby Rowland (2-3) was taken out of the game when he allowed a two-run homer to Kyle Crawl and a single to Garrett Takamatsu. The latter allowed Josh McAdams and TJ White to cross home plate.

Webb Little drove in the Capitals’ other run on a single off Dan Goggin in the eighth.

Miguel Cienfuegos (3-1) posted his third win of the season, allowing five hits, two runs – including one earned – and one walk in six innings. Samuel Adames had his seventh save of the season, good for tied for second in the league and only edged out by Logan Sawyer (nine).

David Vinsky had allowed the Boulders to believe in the seventh by sending an offering of Frank Moscatiello in the stands, but the New York team was cleared of the score sheet the rest of the game.

The Capitals and Boulders will complete their series on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Eagles find the way to victory

After losing their series against the Sussex County Miners, the Trois-Rivières Aigles (11-14) found their way back to victory against the second-best team on the circuit.

The Mauricie team held off a comeback from the Titans (18-7) to win 11-8 in Ottawa.

The Eagles extended their lead to eight runs in the seventh inning by mocking Matt Terrones’ offerings.

The meeting also got off to a bad start for the Titans. Starting pitcher Tyler Jandron (3-1) allowed seven runs on eight hits in four innings of work.

Sam Poliquin (2-2) added a win to his record allowing six hits and just one earned run in five innings. Mark Tindall needed just one batter out to collect his third save of the season.

The Titans scored four runs in the ninth inning as Tyler Luneke occupied the mound, but ultimately couldn’t tie the game.
