The Spurs guarantee Zach Collins’ contract for the 2022-23 academic year

The San Antonio Spurs have decided to guarantee Zach Collins’ salary for the 2022-23 season, according to The journalist reported The San Antonio Express-NewsTom Orsborn. Thus, the player will receive the full 7.3 million that his contract includes. His salary for the 2023-24 academic year is not fully guaranteed either.

A series of foot injuries have limited Collins’ appearance to just 39 games since the start of the 2019-20 season. Of them, he completed 28 with the Spurs shirt, in which he averaged 7.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 17.9 minutes, showing some glimpses of that promising prospect selected 10th overall in the 2017 draft.

Collins’ agent, Mark Bartelstein, has assured that the player will take advantage of the summer period to recover his physical abilities, raise his game to another level and establish himself as an important part of the Spurs’ rotation.

Currently, the Spurs have nine players with a fully guaranteed salary for next year. All three picks in this Thursday’s draft — Jeremy Sochan, Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley — are expected to join this group. For their part, Keita Bates-Diop, Tre Jones and Jock Landale are subject to contracts without a full guarantee.
