The Adrien-Gamache elementary school and the Saint-Jean-Baptiste high school, in the arr. du Vieux-Longueuil, have both received a grant of more than $300,000 from the Quebec government to develop or renovate their sports facilities.
In the case of École Adrien-Gamache, the project consists in particular of adding to the school’s sports facilities a synthetic soccer field, a basketball court with durable and comfortable flooring, two play areas with baskets, a multiple basketball hoops as well as a wall basketball system.
The grant is $332,238 for the project, the total cost of which is estimated at over $860,000. The work is scheduled for the summer of 2023.
On the Saint-Jean-Baptiste school side, the work consists of repairing the basketball court combined with a pickleball court, adding a multiple basketball tree, a synthetic soccer field, nets protection for sports fields, equipment and exercise platforms.
The total estimated costs are over $1.3 million, while the government subsidy amounts to $393,698.35. The works are planned from 2022 to 2024.
The grants come from the Support Program for Sports and Recreational Facilities in Schools and Higher Education (PSISRSES), which also granted $5 million to Cégep Édouard-Montpetit to repair the swimming pool in its sports center.
