It was in the fifth inning that the crowd favorites completely lost control. They were already trailing 2-1 when the Bronx Bombers added eight points.

In turn, Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu started the visitors’ offensive push with home runs, respectively for two and one runs. However, it was Anthony Rizzo who provided the highlight of the show, he who expelled an offering from Trevor Richards outside the limits of the field while teammates occupied each of the cushions.

Rizzo was unsurprisingly the most productive Yankee, with four RBIs on two hits, but Joey Gallo also did well, hitting a one-run double in the team’s eight-run drive, in addition to add two more with a home run in the ninth inning.

Positive events for the Blue Jays are rare in this duel, but rookie Gabriel Moreno showed great things, he who hit the ball in a safe place three times, in addition to producing two of his points, Alejandro Kirk scoring the other with a long ball.

Both teams will continue this three-game series on Saturday. A duel of pitchers is to be expected, since Jameson Taillon (Yankees) and Alek Manoah (Blue Jays) should be the starters.

Cubs invent the art of beating AJ Minter

Using some ingenuity, the Cubs unraveled the mystery surrounding top Atlanta Braves reliever AJ Minter in Chicago to claim a narrow 1-0 win.

Minter, however, did not allow any hits to the Cubs, who made the only run of the game, in the bottom of the eighth inning.

After walking a base, Jonathan Villar went to second base on a sacrifice bunt before stealing third base.

Christopher Morel followed with a long sacrifice fly and it was enough for the Cubs to save themselves with the win.

Duel of pitchers

Both teams had five hits in the game, three by the Cubs and two by the Braves.

On the mound for the hosts, starter Keegan Thompson worked six innings, allowing only two hits and two walks. He also had nine strikeouts. Charlie Morton also deserved better support from his Braves teammates. In seven innings, he gave up only three hits and also struck out nine batters.

An average of 1.26

Credited with the loss, Minter (2-1) is having a great season with the defending World Series champions. In 30 appearances on the mound since the start of the campaign, he now has an ERA of 1.26.

Four runs allowed on his record in 28 2/3 innings. The Cubs proved it on Friday, you have to work really hard to score a point against him.
