The first Women’s Universe Tour kicks off after the pandemic in the Plaza de la Marina in Zamora with Iberdrola

The first Women’s Universe Tour begins after the pandemic in the Plaza de la Marina in Zamora. Zamoranos have wanted to get closer to the event despite the high temperatures that have been throughout the day and a few have been the daring ones who have been since early afternoon giving everything together with the ActualFit monitors. The music fills the atmosphere with color and serves as an accompaniment to the Zumba and Body Combat classes given by the local monitors, a great fitness marathon that could be followed from the main stage of the event.

One of the most visited areas of the Tour has been the tatami, where it has been possible to follow the exhibitions of gymnastics, judo, taekwondo, Olympic wrestling or karate by students from local clubs or from the different Autonomous Federations. In addition, the Tour has had other spaces such as the “ExpoTour” that has collected the stories of the ambassadors and federations promoted by Iberdrola, a Health tent with biometric studies and recycling workshops for the little ones.

The final touch will come on Sunday with the celebration of the ‘Carrera Zamora in form for equality’, a solidarity march whose proceeds will go entirely to the Aspace Zamora Association. With everything ready, sports fans just have to put on their shoes, take a breath and enjoy a unique event that is not long before it ends.

Zamora has become the Spanish capital of women’s sports. The promotion of sports practiced by women has become a key lever for Iberdrola and the promotion of real equality between men and women, one of its essential values. In 2016, Iberdrola became the first company to make a firm and global commitment to equality and the empowerment of women through sport. Currently, the company supports 32 federations: gymnastics, triathlon, rugby, canoeing, badminton, soccer, handball, volleyball, hockey, table tennis, athletics, karate, boxing, surfing, ice sports, fencing, underwater activities, bowling, winter sports, weightlifting, judo, Olympic wrestling, mountain and climbing, swimming, skating, pelota, rowing, squash, taekwondo, tennis, archery and sailing. Likewise, it names 32 leagues, all of them of the highest category, and another 100 competitions with naming right.

Reducing the gender gap in sport is a commitment to women’s equality through excellence and translates into an important benchmark for girls, from their practice of physical activity and sports at all levels of the educational system, to point out to them that the path to federated and high-performance sports is also possible for them.
