For the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies, more than bragging rights are at stake Sunday.
Texas and Texas A&M are scheduled to meet at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb., on Sunday afternoon. This is Game 378 of the Texas-Texas A&M series. The two rivals have never met in the College World Series, however.
Since both teams lost their first games in Omaha, Texas have been beaten 7-3 by Notre Dame Fridaywhile Texas A&M was on the wrong side a 13-8 decision against Oklahoma – it’s a game of elimination. The winner will play another playoff game on Tuesday afternoon. The loser will not play baseball again until 2023.

Texas sacked from Omaha in 10-2 loss to rival Texas A&M
The top-ranked team in many preseason polls, Texas became the first team to be knocked off the field at the College World Series. A 10-2 loss to Texas A&M ended the Longhorns’ baseball season.

Palisch held Texas A&M’s 8-2 lead with an strikeout from Texas slugger Ivan Melendez. Palisch caught Melendez eyeing a fastball that went inside and painted the lower part of the strike zone.

Texas near end of season as Aggies continue to score in Omaha
Texas A&M added two more runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 8-2. The Longhorns blocked a runner in scoring position in four of today’s five innings.
If Texas is to keep its season alive, it will need to match its biggest rally of the season. On April 3, UT trailed 7-1 in the sixth inning of a game against Oklahoma. The Longhorns eventually recorded a 12-8 win.
Texas A&M strikes again with a two-hit hit and two outs
After Texas squandered a scoring chance in the fourth inning, Texas A&M didn’t. Jack Moss’ two-out single gave the Aggies a 6-2 lead.
Texas A&M’s last four runs came with two outs in one inning. The three Aggies who were at bat in those scoring plays were facing a two-strike count.
In the top of the fourth inning, Texas had a chance to take the lead from Texas A&M. UT’s first two batters to hit in the fourth frame reached base, but Aggie pitcher Micah Dallas got three straight outs to get out of that jam.
An unexpected defense collapse plunges Texas into a deeper hole
Texas was poised to come out of the third inning with the 4-2 deficit they faced intact. But Texas A&M extended its lead to three points on a strange play.
With two outs and an Aggie to first base, UT third baseman Skyler Messinger threw wide to first base on a routine ground ball. The errant pitch bounced off the glove of first baseman Ivan Melendez, who then attempted to chase the baseball away. But while gliding for the baseball, Melendez threw it into the Texas dugout and officials allowed the advancing runner to third base to head home.

Messinger was credited with an error on the play. Messinger entered the game with a .977 field percentage and just four errors to his credit. Melendez boasted a .997 field percentage.
Big round propels Texas A&M to top of College World Series
Texas pitcher Lucas Gordon got through the first inning, but things weren’t so smooth in the second session. Using four hits, Texas A&M scored four times and took a 4-2 lead at Omaha.
Brett Minnich’s double, Jordan Thompson’s single and Trevor Werner’s single produced runs for the Aggies in that second inning. Werner’s two-run single in the lead came with two outs.
Gordon threw 10 pitches in the first inning. He needed 43 pitches in the second, and he was retired with two outs after losing an 11-pitch battle with Werner.
Texas made Texas A&M pay for some defensive mishaps
Texas took a 2-0 lead early in the second inning when Douglas Hodo III’s brace brought teammate Dylan Campbell home. Hodo also scored his team’s first run in the first inning.

Texas A&M twice had a chance to get Campbell out but failed. Campbell initially reached base when Trevor Werner tipped his hard hit ground ball to third base. Campbell then appeared to be caught stealing, but his slip knocked Kole Kaler’s glove out of the shortstop’s hand and he was declared safe.
Austin Todd gives Longhorns an early lead over rival Aggies
Texas got off to a great start in this must-watch game against Texas A&M. An RBI single from Austin Todd gave the Longhorns a 1-0 lead.
The Longhorns started the game with a march drawn by Douglas Hodo III and the single by Eric Kennedy. Texas A&M starter Micah Dallas retired Ivan Melendez and Murphy Stehly, but Todd made sure the Texas A&M starter wouldn’t come out of the inning unscathed.
The Longhorns are 30-11 this season when scoring first.
Lucas Gordon takes the mound for Texas as Longhorns get another shot at Micah Dallas
With its season on the line, Texas will hand over baseball to starting pitcher Lucas Gordon. A sophomore southpaw, Gordon is 7-1 with a 2.68 ERA this season. Gordon hasn’t won a decision in his two starts in the NCAA Tournament, but he’s less than a month away from a standout performance against TCU in the Big 12 Tournament in which he pitched 7 ⅔ two-man baseball innings. hits.
Texas A&M junior Micah Dallas takes on Gordon on the mound, a right-hander who is 6-3 with a 5.40 ERA. Texas fans may remember Dallas from his time at Texas Tech.
