Summary of matches in the National League, Wednesday, June 8, 2022

Ozzie Albies drove in four runs in an easy 13-2 Atlanta Braves win over the Oakland A’s on Wednesday.

Michael Harris gave Atlanta the lead with a two-run triple in the fifth inning, which ruined Jared Koenig’s major league debut.

Ian Anderson pitched six solid innings and the Braves rallied from a 2-0 deficit for the second straight game to sweep the two-game series and extend their season-best winning streak to seven. The A’s lost eight straight games and 11 of their last 13 games.

The 28-year-old Koenig led 2-1 in the fourth inning after completing a long run to the major leagues, including spending the 2017-19 seasons in independent leagues. The 6’5″ southpaw didn’t get a strikeout in the fifth.

Austin Riley homered Domingo Acevedo to give the Braves a 5-2 lead. William Contreras, Ozzie Albies and Duvall also homered in the 13-hit game for Atlanta.

Albies’ homer barely cleared the left-field fence over Chad Pinder’s glove.

Anderson (5-3) allowed two runs and six hits.

Koenig (0-1) allowed four runs on five hits and two walks in more than four innings.
