Former world No. 1 cancels for Wimbledon

The former tennis world number one Naomi Osaka has her participation at the upcoming Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon (from June 27th) due to injury cancelled. “Think Achilles tendon is still badsee you next time,” wrote the four-time Grand Slam winner on Twitter. The 24-year-old Osaka had already considered not competing in the lawn Mecca after the ATP and WTA tours decided not to award ranking points in Wimbledon – a reaction to the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes by the All England Club.
