Spanish badminton sets course for the Oran 2022 Mediterranean Games

Spain sets course for the Mediterranean Games in Oran 2022, an event that takes place from June 25 to July 5 in the port city in northwestern Algeria. Moreover, the national delegation led by the Spanish Olympic Committee is already traveling to Algerian lands. In the Spanish team, it is worth highlighting the presence of the entire badminton group, made up of a coach, four athletes and a referee.

In the sports section, the team is headed by coach Eduardo Herrero with athletes Pablo Abián, Kike Peñalver, Bea Corrales and Ania Setién. It should be noted that Abián has already won two medals in the Mediterranean Games, the gold in Tarragona 2018 and the silver in Mersin 2013. Bea Corrales also knows what it is like to get on the podium in this competition, since she won silver in Tarragona.

The badminton competition takes place from June 26 to 30 and in it the four participants of the selection will compete in the individual and doubles events. In other words, Abián and Peñalver will compete separately and also as a couple, just like Corrales and Setién.

In the refereeing section, Spanish badminton has the presence of Antonio Cárdenas. It should be remembered that the Andalusian has participated in international events of all levels, including the recent Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, the Huelva 2021 World Championships and the Madrid 2022 European Championships.

The Mediterranean Games are a series of multi-sport events organized by the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games, which are included within the Olympic Movement, among the so-called Regional Games, held by the countries of the Mediterranean Sea.
