Rothestein Cave (Holtzen) and Family Park (Sottrum) – Einbecker Judo Club

On May 29th, 2022 it was time for the “big ones” in the club. A hiking day was scheduled to explore the Ith near Holtzen. We met at 10 a.m. at the “red fox” hiking car park and then walked to the Wilhelm Raabe Tower as the first point on our tour. Even the mixed weather with clouds, sun and rain couldn’t spoil the fun for us that day. After most mastered the ascent to the tower and some already grabbed the first food from their backpacks, we continued across the Ithwiesen and then to the Rothestein Cave, which was to be the highlight of this tour. In between there was a lot of talking and laughing. Arrived at the Rothestein Cave, the lamps were taken out and then we went into the narrow cave. For many it is certainly an interesting feeling to be so far under/in the earth and rock. There was some climbing, some sliding, bending and squeezing, but it was an experience for everyone. After this was mastered, we went back to the hikers’ car park, and on the way back we were able to enjoy the beautiful sides of the Ith again and again, so that this hike will certainly be remembered for a long time.

Since the “little ones” shouldn’t miss out in the club, we were at the family park in Sottrum on June 26th, 2022 from 11 a.m. Here, too, there was great encouragement, so that we came with a strong team to spend a nice day. It was that day, hopped, climbed and rocked. Some have tried their luck at chess or sailed across the pond on a raft. They played with water, slid and cheered with joy. At 1 p.m. everyone was so hungry that we ate lunch together. Strengthened, we could then go on a further discovery tour through the park, which truly had something in store for everyone. At 3:45 p.m. a group picture was to be taken, which was skilfully prevented by the approaching rain front, nevertheless everyone got their money’s worth that day, so that we drive home with a grin, even if wet could. I think I speak for everyone when I say “it was really fun!”.
