Laso was placed in the Intensive Care Unit to monitor any reaction and if he gradually improves, he will be transferred home for further treatment. Due to this recovery process, he will be removed from his position for a while and the Madrid basketball team will have an interim coach.

The Spanish coach who will temporarily replace him will be Chus Mateo, who is Laso’s assistant and who has been in charge of the team on previous occasions, such as when the coach suffered from COVID-19.
