Radio 8 Ardennes | A mobilization of the Ardennes to attract international sports delegations to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Labeled Terre de Jeux in January 2020, the Ardennes Departmental Council seized this historic opportunity to participate in the dynamics of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Within the framework of these games, the department works collectively, with clubs, associations, the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee and the Departmental Handisport Committee.

The department wishes to promote the sporting offer of the Ardennes and arouse the enthusiasm of the general public for the Olympiad and thus promote the territory and its major sports facilities. “ This department has many advantages, given its sports infrastructure and accommodation » .

Seven facilities on the territory are labeled Center of Preparation for the Games. About 12 disciplines are concerned, namely artistic gymnastics at the Fumay Gymnasium, rowing, Paralympic rowing, basketball at the Charleville-Mézières Arena, canoe-kayak sprint, para canoe at the Vieilles-Forges site. But also boxing, judo, at the Maison départementale des Sports in Bazeilles, handball in Bogny Sur Meuse and finally football at the Dugauguez stadium in Sedan.

The Departmental Council, coordinator of this dynamic on the territory, has just launched a website presenting the seven Centers of Preparation for the Ardennes Games. This site is www.sportsenardennes.fr. It was officially released on June 23, 2022. It is available in 3 languages: English, Spanish and French. An interactive map is also present to locate the different sites. In addition to this site, the Departmental Council has opened a Facebook page dedicated to sport in the Ardennes “Sports en Ardennes”. You can find all the sporting events organized in the department.
