Puertollano launches the first center in Spain for modernization and training in jiu jitsu and associated sports

The “Javier Bermejo” Puertollano Center for Sports Specialties becomes the first center in Spain for training and education in jiu jitsu, self defense, wushu, aikido and kendo, following the agreement signed between the City Council and the Federation of Judo and Associated Sports of Castile-La Mancha.

The mayor, Adolfo Muñiz, and the manager of the Federation, Juan Delgado, after discovering a plaque at the entrance of the facility, have signed an agreement that will allow the transfer of spaces in this center for the training, promotion and dissemination of these sports associates.

Juan Delgado has affirmed that it represents an achievement of enormous height because it is the only center in Spain dedicated to associated sports, which represents the culmination “of something that we were very excited about”, thanks to the involvement of the Federation with Puertollano since 1984 , and which joins the network of centers in the region together with the one in Tomelloso, where judo is already taught.

The mayor, Adolfo Muñiz, recalled that Puertollano has been a pioneer in this type of sports since 1958, to which it has also contributed to have Paqui Moreno, a champion and a benchmark, and with facilities that are at the service of citizens and this sport.

Finally, Paqui Moreno pointed out that it is “something very important for our city that we continue to make sure that the name of the city is heard at all levels.”

A firm that has recognized the work of José Cañizares and the Kodokan club, who were the pioneers of this sport in Puertollano and who for years have trained generations of fighters and young promises.
