It has been clear since May 23 that Edin Terzic will again lead the Borussia Dortmund pros on the sidelines in the future. BVB deliberately took its time with the rest of the coaching team – in order to be able to present its “declared ideal candidates for cooperation”.

Hermann knows the Bundesliga like no other. In more than three decades in the professional field, in which he deliberately acted mostly as an assistant coach, the 70-year-old has played almost 1000 games in the top two national divisions as well as the DFB Cup and another 200 in European club competitions. Hermann celebrated his greatest success alongside Jupp Heynckes, most recently he worked for Schalke for three months.

Hermann will completely give up his role as assistant coach of the German U-20 national team. “Peter is a veteran coach who has experienced and won everything,” Meikel Schönweitz, head coach of the U-national teams, is quoted as saying: “We are glad that he has brought his experience to the DFB’s youth development over the past three years. “We always appreciated the exchange with Peter and will continue to do so. We let him go with a laughing and a crying eye. We would certainly have liked to have kept his expertise in our team for longer, but on the other hand this commitment also shows the competence we have have on our coaching staff.”

For his part, Geppert was already one of Terzic’s assistants in the 2020/21 season, when he led the professional team to victory in the DFB Cup and the Champions League as an interim solution. Apart from this almost six-month break, the 38-year-old has been responsible for BVB’s U17s since 2016 and during this time has won the German B-Junior Championship once (2018) and reached the final again (2019).

BVB wants to start preparing for the new season on June 27th.
