Pierre Ménès “very sick”, his trial for sexual assault postponed in 2023

The Paris Criminal Court announced the news this Wednesday morning. The trial for “sexual assault” of journalist Pierre Ménès (58) has been adjourned to March 8, 2023. “In a file with a gray area for both inculpatory and exonerating, it is to your client’s advantage that it is not a sloppy file“, asserted to the defense the president of the court, deploring a problem of hearing which left only one hour for the study of the file.

According to his lawyer, Me Arash Derambarsh, the former Canal Football Club columnist, who was absent from Wednesday’s hearing, is “very sick“, hospitalized”until may” et “almost in a coma“No civil party was present or represented at the hearing on Wednesday.

Pierre Ménès is being prosecuted for acts of sexual abuse, “touching” in the chest and stomach reported to the police by a hostess at the Parc des Princes after the PSG-Nantes match on November 20. This woman had not filed a complaint. He must also respond to a complaint for “sexual assault” filed in October 2018 by an employee of a Parisian Nike store.

The complaint had been dismissed, after a reminder of the law by the Paris prosecutor’s office, a criminal orientation which can be revised in the event of new facts. Pierre Ménès disputes these accusations. He had been sidelined from Canal + at the end of March 2021 after accusations of sexual assault. The former Canal Football Club columnist left the encrypted channel on July 1, ending almost twelve years of collaboration. (With AFP)
