Philadelphia selected as one of 2026 World Cup host cities | Epoch Times

[Epoch Times, June 24, 2022](Epoch Times Philadelphia News) Philadelphia has become one of the host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be played at the Lincoln Financial Center Stadium.

Eleven U.S. cities are host cities for the World Cup. They are: Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, New York/New Jersey.

In addition, Vancouver and Toronto in Canada, as well as Mexico City and two other cities in Mexico are also host cities for the World Cup. This is the first time the World Cup has been played in three countries. The results were announced on June 16. The 2026 World Cup will expand from 32 to 48 teams.

Philadelphia has been gearing up for the tournament since FIFA announced the United States, Canada and Mexico as co-hosts in 2018. Over the past few years, the Lincoln Financial Center has hosted numerous international football matches. Additionally, Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park Stadium will host the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game in the summer of 2026.
