Paddy Recker honored for 40 years of service to the board | Langeoog Current

The chairman of TSV Langeoog Heiko “Paddy” Recker received a trophy for 40 years of board work and life for the club on Sunday during the annual general meeting from the board. There are actually no words to describe his commitment, said his deputy Ralf Heimes at the handover. “Paddy is not above anything to make the club work,” he said appreciatively.

“Paddy” Recker has been a member of the association for over 60 years. He always enjoyed working on the board, sport gave him so much and so he saw an opportunity to give something back. On the board and beyond, there would always have been fellow combatants who fill the association with life. He called on the members of the association to get involved and to think about participating in the board.

For the first time in its more than hundred-year history, the annual general meeting took place in the open air on the sports field of TSV Langeoog right next to the long jump pit and the running track, after it had to be canceled twice in winter due to corona. The board of directors then decided to let it take place in the run-up to the traditional Pentecost festival.

In her greeting, Mayor Heike Horn acknowledged that the club had gotten the sport up and running again after Corona and continued to offer a wide range of sports despite the island location. Because sport is not only medically but also socially of great importance, the “we” was often missing in Corona times and without voluntary commitment a lot would be dull.

Jens Goldenstein, board member for sports, training and education, brought the greetings from KSB Wittmund to Alfred Helmers. He pointed out the importance of sport for the community and appealed to the board, the trainers and the members to continue to get involved.

The TSV currently has over 600 members, including many passive ones, who also contribute to the traditionally low membership fees with their membership. 26 members were honored by the 2nd chairman Ralf Heimes for 20 years, ten each for 40 and 50 years. Hans-Hermann Fischer received a badge of honor for 60 years at TSV, Jonny Vestering for 70 years at the club. Else Lübben was awarded the gold sports badge for 40 times.

In the board’s report, Paddy Recker thanked the club’s trainers, without whom nothing would work. It is very gratifying that Hinni Beitelmann and Meik Julius are promoting youth work in football again. The division turned 75 last year. Matthias Fischer reactivated the badminton division. In 2023 one hopes that the gymnastics dune cup can take place again. For the men’s fitness division, Frank Düll reported that outdoor sports, for example exercises on the southern pier and training sessions on the sports field, had been made possible in accordance with the corona virus. The judo department around Heini Matzies had also spread the judo mats there in good weather. In addition, online belt tests were offered, in which the judoka demonstrated their skills in front of the camera. Heini Matzies said he hoped for additional indoor time so that he could offer judo again for adults.

Treasurer Julia Neumann reported that the club had a healthy cash register. In Corona times, certain income was lost, but expenditure in the divisions was also lower. The board of directors was discharged unanimously, then Ralf Heimes was confirmed as 2nd chairman and Marleen Agena in absentia as secretary. The budget, which envisages, among other things, the completion of the grandstand roof and a partial refurbishment of the clubhouse, was also accepted and the annual fees remain low at 25 euros for children and 50 euros for adults. We are also happy about passive memberships from regular guests associated with the TSV.
