Spain has achieved the silver medal in the men’s doubles at the Mediterranean Games in Oran (Algeria). Pablo Abián (player of Recreativo IES La Orden) and Enrique Peñalver lost in the final against local Mammeri and Medel by 21-14/19-21/16-21.
The Spanish dominated the first set with authority; the second was much more disputed and two controversial decisions by the referee in the final stretch gave victory to the Algerianswho were better in the last and decisive match, which earned them the title.
In the semifinals, the Spanish tandem went back to the Italians Fabio Caponio and Giovanni Toti in three tight sets (17-21, 21-15 and 21-19), thus securing the medal.
