Pablo Abián revalidates the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games

Pablo Abián revalidated this Thursday the gold in the Mediterranean Games of Oran by winning in badminton in the individual modality against the also Spanish Kike Peñalver (21-13 and 22-20). Abián and Peñalver were precisely runners-up in men’s doubles last Monday in these same Games that are celebrated in neighboring Algeria. Also, Bea Corrales also won the silver medal in the women’s individual final.

With this podium, Spain adds two golds after on Wednesday the judoka, Francisco Garrigós, will be proclaimed champion in the final of -60 kilos against the Tunisian Fraj Dhouibi.

So far Spain, which hosted the last edition of 2018 in Tarragona, has 17 distinctions (2 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze) in a classification led by Turkey, Italy and Algeria.

For Abián it is the fourth medal in a Mediterranean Games, after the silver of Mersin 2013, the gold of Tarragona 2018 and the gold and silver of the current ones of Oran 2022.
