“Novak Djokovic disappointed at Roland Garros”

In the latest edition of the podcast hosted by Gill Gross, the famous journalist Steve Flink gave his opinion on the match between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic which took place in Paris.

He explained: “The match between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros in 2022 was very different from last year. In 2021, Nole was in a competitive trance and felt perfectly at ease on the court.

There were times when he smiled and we noticed that there was positive energy in him. Nadal, on the other hand, looked a bit somber. For some reason, the situation has reversed this year.

Djokovic had negative body language and was annoyed by the crowd, while Nadal was on cloud nine. My feeling is that – if they had reached the fifth set – they would both have raised their game and we would have seen an epic battle.

That didn’t happen because Novak wasn’t very cynical when he got the chance to close the fourth set.” The Serb won’t play any tournaments until Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic at Roland-Garros in 2022

It was legitimate to expect something more from Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros 2022.

The Serbian star came to Paris with the status of first favorite for victory, especially after the triumph in Rome without dropping a single set. This edition of Roland-Garros was to sanction the definitive return of Nole to the highest level, as well as to represent a greedy opportunity for redemption after the famous Australian quarrel.

The 35-year-old from Belgrade was lucky enough to catch Rafael Nadal at 21 Majors, but things didn’t go as he hoped. After loafing the first week, Djokovic made it to the quarter-finals against his eternal rival Rafael Nadal.

Novak Djokovic was the victim of too many ups and downs during the match, allowing the Spaniard to clinch victory in four sets. Goran’s protege Ivanisevic will only have Wimbledon to increase his showcase, given that he will hardly be able to fly to New York to play the US Open.
