Nick Kyrgios is back on the circuit. After a break during the entire clay court tour, the Australian is playing the ATP 250 in Stuttgart where he is already in the semifinals. It was there where in a conversation with a Spanish media outlet he gave his opinion on the Big Three and the present of his career.
“I think the best is Rafael Nadal. He now has 22 Grand Slams and Djokovic and Federer have 20.″, began by commenting on the boy from Canberra, who despite having had several crosses with the Spanish, did not hesitate to praise him for his achievements.
But also a large part of the interview was focused on the most personal Kyrgios. For example, when asked about his bad boy nickname, Nick delivered a profound response. “I don’t think he does crazy things on the track. I’m 27 years old and I’ve been playing like this since I was 10. I’ve always been very emotional and ambitious. I’m not going to change. I think the fans want to see exciting and intense matches. If you lose, it’s normal for you to be angry, it’s human. Some will show it more and some less. I love that people enjoy my game and like to see me play. I’m proud of my style of play”, he commented.
A response that was followed by his feelings in this new season, where he has left very positive feelings. “2022 is a year to resurface. I started the season well and saw that I didn’t need to play every tournament to improve. I wanted to prepare as well as possible for grass tournaments. I don’t think about the rankings because I know I can beat anyone”, he added.
Finally when asked about his start on the grass tour, the Aussie was clear. “Grass is a completely different surface than the others. Everyone must adjust, but not everyone can. I’ve had a good start, I hope to have continuity and be able to play more games in the coming weeks”, he concluded.
