Kevin Krawietz, 30, and Andreas Mies, 31, the two-time French Open winners in doubles, found what they were looking for in their search for a new coach. Lukas Wolff, who is part of the coaching team at the Bavarian tennis performance center in Oberhaching (“Tennis-Base”) near Munich, is now officially accompanying the duo, as Krawietz confirmed to the SZ in Wimbledon. After a two-week trial period at the tournaments in Halle and Mallorca, Krawietz from Coburg and Mies from Cologne decided to work with Wolff. “I’ve known Lukas for a long time, we’re definitely planning the rest of the season with him now and we’re looking forward to spending time with him,” said Krawietz. Wolff was last in charge of Yannick Hanfmann from Karlsruhe. “It’s a great job to work with two Grand Slam winners,” said Wolff, who is accompanying the two at a tournament in this category for the first time in Wimbledon.

Krawietz and Mies will meet the French Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul in the first round of the lawn classic on Wednesday or Thursday. About a month ago they had separated from the Austrian coach Julian Knowle. Wolff will continue to be part of the tennis base team.
