MLB: summary of the games of Saturday, June 18, 2022 in Major League Baseball

Pitchers Johnny Cueto and Reynaldo Lopez combined to hold the Houston Astros to three hits in a 7-0 win over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday.

Luis Robert tied a career high with four RBIs

Ace Justin Verlander was roughed up.

Cueto (1-3) allowed two hits and struck out five in seven innings, a season high, for his first win since July 29 last year with San Francisco.

Robert matched his best performance of the season with three hits and Jose Abreu drove in two runs as the White Sox took a 7-0 lead after four innings for their fourth win in five games.

Lopez allowed a hit in two innings to complete the shutout.

Verlander (8-3) started the day tied for the Major League Baseball lead with eight wins, but had a rare poor start after a splendid start to the season upon his return after missing nearly two years after surgery by Tommy John.

He allowed nine hits and seven runs — four earned — in 3.2 innings to snap his two-game winning streak.

The Astros’ downfall comes a day after the team scored ten runs in the sixth inning in a Game 1 win of the series.
