Miquel Martí i Pol

Everything is to be done and everything is possible “said Martí i Pol in one of his most famous poems. And so it is today for Girona FC, because yesterday’s result did not deprive them of anything at all. It may seem like a disadvantage, but in Montilivi, from personal experience, it is known that it is not and that we would be mistaken if we thought so, especially after seeing the comeback in Eibar.

Therefore, next Sunday it will be a matter of simply following the words of the Roda de Ter master and “getting back on your feet again”, because as the recent history of Girona explains, from the second year in the First Division he has gone “slowly and always with the wind in his face.” In other words, from stumble to stumble, despite seeming that luck could change.

But just like the poem and despite the disappointments experienced, the team and the club have never given up on anything during these years, there has been no fuss about their own reality and they have followed to the letter the “ som on som; it’s better to know and say it ”. And that’s why every year the team has raised its head and competed again, as it will have to do now until the last moment.

“Let’s shout who we are and let everyone hear it,” says the poem, and this is what Girona FC has done this season, after a first third in the league in which it was down for many days. And he repeated it at the end of the championship when they stopped the good results that had taken him away. And he did it a few days ago in Eibar and next Sunday he will have to do it again.

And so are Michel’s team, the club and the city. Knowing that despite yesterday’s result, nothing has been lost and that it is simply a matter of getting back up, because as the first sentence of this writing says, “everything is to be done and everything is possible.”

And one day, the poet no longer says that, he has to face it, but for that to happen, the effort is presumed to be maximum. Football does not owe one to Girona FC just for insistence, football will give one to Girona FC if it deserves it. And like it or not, in recent years it has been rivals who have deserved it the most.
