Mathematician from Sint-Niklaas receives international prize for black hole music

As a doctor of mathematics with a passion for music, Valery Vermeulen from Sint-Niklaas has made electronic music based on data from black holes. His album “Mikromedas” has been distributed in 28 countries. He is now also the first Belgian to win the international Honorary Mention for a STARTS Prize. The prize is awarded to musicians who blend science, technology and art, thereby contributing to social and cultural innovation.
