“When will we do something?”
Steve Kerr, head coach of the Golden State Warriors, slammed his fist on his desk with a distorted look in anger and sadness.
On May 24, it was less than two hours before the start of Round 4 of the NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals. A few hours ago, a mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, killed a total of 21 children and teachers. Ten days earlier, 10 people had just been killed in a mass shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York. The day after the Buffalo incident, a mass shooting also occurred at a church in Laguna Woods, California, killing one and seriously injuring five.
Sadly, such gun incidents are not uncommon in the United States. Car HC has also prayed for the victims of gun violence countless times before the match. No matter how many times I remain silent, I feel that the number of incidents is decreasing or even increasing.
Yet, there is no prospect of enacting even a bill that tightens the identity verification of gun purchases needed to reduce the number of cases. This is because Republican senators are against it. Kerr’s anger exploded against politicians who were reluctant to fight gun violence, and against the sad situation in the United States where the problem was known but could not be resolved. Name the leading Republican lawmakers who oppose the gun control bill and ask, “Do you prioritize maintaining your power over the lives of worshipers, the elderly, and children?” rice field.
