Malaysia Open 2022 – Japan’s seed has not been confirmed to appear after returning from Indonesia

BOLASPORT.COM – There are several top Japanese badminton players who are reported to have been exposed to COVID-19 while participating in a tournament in Indonesia and it is not yet confirmed their participation in the Malaysia Open 2022 event.

The Japan Badminton Association has issued a statement that its players tested positive for COVID-19 while participating in the Indonesia Open 2022.

There were five players who were suspected of being infected and were not seen in the first training session at the Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Sunday (26/6/2022).

They are the women’s doubles pair Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota, the mixed doubles pair Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino, and the women’s singles player Sayaka Takahashi.



According to the information, the first player started showing symptoms on June 23 and then tested positive for COVID-19 one day later.

The other four players tested positive on June 25.

Based on standard procedures, players who test positive for COVID-19 must undergo quarantine for five days.

New players may be allowed to play if their test results are negative on the fifth day after undergoing self-isolation.
