Latvian 3×3 basketball players finish the group round with a victory over Poland / Article

In the first game of the day, Latvians lost to the Dutch national team at 19:21, suffering their first failure in the World Cup group. Kārlis Pauls Lasmanis was the most productive in the Latvian team with eight points, while Nauris Miezis added seven points and also won two rebounds.

The Latvians seemed to be close to success, as the game was in the lead with 15: 8, but in the last minutes they could not slow down the activity of the Dutch national team in the attack.

In turn, in the game against Poland, the Latvians were convincingly superior with 22: 9, which was not enough to get the first place in the group and immediately go to the quarterfinals.

Lasmanis was the most productive in the game against the Poles in the Latvian national team, providing eight points, but Barley had seven points.

After the last game in the group round, Miezis explained to the organizers in an interview that the team played poorly in the defense against the Netherlands, but the match against Poland showed what the Latvians are capable of.

In the first two games in the group, the Latvian national team convincingly beat China and Japan. The Dutch national team also started the group round with two victories, but the victory over the Latvians ensured their participation in the quarterfinals.

The winners of the group immediately qualified for the quarterfinals, while the second and third place winners will start the elimination tournament in the eighth finals.

The Latvian 3×3 basketball team is committed to winning the only missing grand prize in the team’s trophy range. Kārlis Pauls Lasmanis, Nauris Miezis, Agnis Čavars and Artūrs Strēlnieks represent Latvia at the World Cup.

The winners of the World Cup in Antwerp will be announced on Sunday, June 26.
