Judo wins bronze for mixed team;  surpasses performance in Bolivarianos

Judo surpassed its performance in the XVIII edition held in Santa Marta in 2017, where it won six medals, including one gold, two silver and four bronze.

WRITING.- The National Judo Team won the bronze medal in the mixed team competition to close its performance in the competitions with seven medals. Bolivarian Games Valledupar 2022.

The Quisqueyan judokas won two gold medals, three silver and a couple of bronze to be the most fruitful selection for the country in the fair so far.

The Dominican team swept Colombia 4-0 in the fight for bronze. The points were contributed by Coral Velásquez, Elmert Ramírez, Albis Castro and Moira Morillo.

Velásquez defeated Karen Muños by wasari in the -57 kilos category. Ramírez beat Arcangel Barbosa by ippon (-73 kilos). Castro also won by ippon over Daniel Paz (-90 kg) and Morillo closed by beating Brigitte Carabalí by wasari in +70 kilos.

In the group stage, the Dominican team beat Colombia 4-1, but lost to Peru 4-2. Venezuela won gold by defeating Peru in the final.

The Dominican medalists in judo at the Bolivarian Games were: Moira Morillo (+70 kilos) and José Nova (+100 kg), gold winners. Creymarlin Valdez (-63) and Albis Castro (-83) and Elmert Ramirez (-73) reached silver medals and Clara Barinas obtained a bronze in the -57 kilograms.

The competitions were held for three days at the Bilingual School of this city.

Esneiry Pérez is in ninth position in the men’s sunfish modality, while Rosanna Mateo Pérez is in eighth place in the women’s Ilca 6 in the Sailing competitions that take place in the Tominé Reservoir, in Cundinamarca, Bogotá.

Men’s rugby sevens

The Dominican men’s national team lost its second game, this time 59-0 against Colombia. The first meeting on Monday was 7-38 with a victory for Chile.

Women’s Basketball 3X3

The 3×3 women’s basketball team was eliminated after losing 15-16 to Venezuela in the bronze medal match. In the semifinal, the Quisqueyan representation fell 8-21 against Colombia.

The Dominican 3×3 girls lost all eight of their matches played during the tournament. As only four teams participated in the tournament, it allowed the Dominican representation to access the dispute for the bronze.
