Jazz gets a makeover

« Purple is back ! ». As the Cavs did recently, the Jazz has in turn delved into its past to redefine the colors of one of its four new jerseys by bringing purple (and its mountains) up to date. Utah has indeed decided to start a new chapter and will start by giving a new visual identity to its jerseys and its floor.

If purple has been part of the Jazz color code since its creation in 1974, the “Purple Mountain” uniform had already reappeared during the 2019/20 season, for the “Classic Edition” jersey.

“Purple is back and it’s here to stay”, said Jim Olson, president of the franchise. “ This collection of uniforms highlights the return of our flagship color, purple, which will be an integral part of our new designs for future Jazz seasons. Purple is very popular with our supporters and is at the heart of our identity. Along with our new floors, these fresh yet familiar looks speak to our great history and vibrant future.”

A fusion of past and present

For the other three new jerseys, on the other hand, we are starting with new tones, with a black version and another white one to represent the keys of a piano, and finally a predominantly yellow uniform to symbolize the Jazzmen’s desire to embrace the light. spotlights…

The floor of the Vivint Arena will also undergo a facelift with two new styles: the “Purple Mountain” with purple tones and with the franchise’s retro logo in the center of the field, and the “Core”, articulated around the colors black , yellow and white, this time with the “note” visible in the center of the field.

Again, the idea is to “merge the elements of the past with those of the present”, as Ben Barnes, “design” director, pointed out, even if the idea does not appeal to everyone and he has already had to suffer many criticisms from fans, especially on the black set.
