The schedule of the Regionalliga Südwest is here. Kickers Offenbach starts with an attractive away game. Meanwhile, the playtesters get more chances.

Offenbach – Offenbacher Kickers are starting the new season of the Southwest Regional Football League with an away game at newly promoted Wormatia Worms. This was announced by the management of the regional league on Monday evening. OFC meets TSG 1899 Hoffenheim II in the first home game of the season. On the fourth day of the game, there is a main derby against FSV Frankfurt.

On the first weekend in September there is a premiere for the OFC: For the first time in a competitive game, they are going to the regional league newcomer SGV Freiberg.

Kickers Offenbach: OFC managing director Georg is satisfied with the game plan

“It’s a nice opening game for a promoted player who will go into the game with euphoria. It’s nice for us because the fans don’t have to drive far,” said OFC Managing Director Matthias Georg, who was satisfied with the schedule. Only the away trip to TSG Balingen in the English week (September 13/14) doesn’t sit well with him. “Of course you want a trip nearby. But then we drive to Balingen during the week.”

Georg is currently feeling the new euphoria surrounding the Kickers every day. As of Monday, 2621 season tickets have already been sold. “That’s strong,” he says happily. In addition, sales of the DFB Cup game are going well.

The office is not only busy in terms of ticketing, marketing and seasonal planning. Squad planning is also being pushed ahead. Georg confirmed that goalkeeper Maximilian Engl, who did a lot of self-promotion in the 2-1 win in the friendly at Würzburger Kickers, will be made an offer. The 24-year-old was last under contract with FC Augsburg II in the regional league, where he played 25 competitive games. Before that, he was active for Rot-Weiss Erfurt and Türkgücü Munich in the third division, playing once in the third division in Erfurt.

Kickers Offenbach test player Jakob Zitzelsberger knows how to impress at OFC

The OFC remains in contact with central defender Jakob Zitzelsberger, who also took part as a test subject in training and in the test against Würzburg last week and knew how to convince. The 25-year-old was last under contract with FC Pipinsried (Regionalliga Bayern). Outfield player David Tomic (24) is allowed to train with OFC until further notice, although there is no need for his position. “But he’s a boy from the region,” explained Georg, which is why the native of Hanau, who learned to play football at SG Rosenhöhe, is allowed to stay.

Another test player will be involved this week. Jost Mairose, most recently captain of the regional league relegated TSV Schott Mainz, should show up in training and also in the friendly on Saturday (3 p.m.) in Seligenstadt against the Bavarian regional league team TSV Aubstadt. Mairose (23) would be a candidate for the sixth position in midfield. He has played 77 regional league games for Schott Mainz since 2017. (Joerg Moll)
