Viktor Axelsen is ready for the final of the Indonesia Open.

The Danish badminton player beats Malaysian Lee Zii Jia 19-21, 21-11, 23-21.

It happens after a completely insane end to the third set, where the Dane at one point led comfortably with 20-6.

He was subsequently overtaken, Lee Zii Jia had a match ball, and Danes smashed his racket in the floor in pure frustration.

But he survived it and subsequently secured the victory, which made the Danish Olympic gold winner run around the track in pure ecstasy.

Both players showed towering level and it was at no point to predict who would run with the win.

Indonesia Open is a Super 1000 tournament and thus one of the biggest of the year. This is the second year in a row that Axelsen is in the final. This year, he will face either Zhao Jun Peng or HS Prannoy in the final.

Lee Zii Jia opened the match nicely and got Viktor Axelsen on overtime. That meant the Malaysian took the early lead. But the Dane quickly picked up the pace and took the lead 4-3.

However, it was clear that Axelsen was not just allowed to run away.

Lee Zii Jia took every opportunity to stab Axelsen when the game ended up at the net, where the Malaysian is stronger than most.

At the same time, Axelsen struggled to get his smashers to sit in the closet, and suddenly Lee Zii Jia was ahead 12-10.

Axelsen kept coming back, but made too many mistakes at the end of the set, with the Malaysian coming ahead 20-18 before winning the set.

Thus, Axelsen was forced to win the second set to keep the final dream alive, and he got off to a good start.

But Lee Zii Jia was cunning and moved Axelsen around the corners. At the same time, Axelsen had to bet on very extra balls to make it difficult for the strong Malaysian, and that resulted in too many balls smoking beyond the back line.

But suddenly Axelsen found his game, and when the lead became big enough, Lee Zii Jia gave up to bet on a third and decisive set.

After a bit of treatment, the Malaysian came in for the third set with renewed energy. It was clear. He jumped around the field, and as soon as he got the opportunity, he smashed the ball into the ground without a chance for Axelsen.

That way, Lee Zii Jia took the lead 4-1. But Axelsen came back again. After some long duels and towering level in both camps, it was all right at 8-8.

Viktor Axelsen again found out about stabbing Lee Zii Jia, who also lost level himself. Several times the Malaysian sent the ball off the field. Axelsen took great advantage of this and came ahead 15-12.

Viktor Axelsen continued the high level, but it still ended up being a horror of another world.
