Indonesia Open 2022, Yuta Watanabe Amazed Fans at Istora Celebrate His Birthday All

KOMPAS.com – Japanese mixed doubles player Yuta Watanabe was amazed by the support of the Indonesian fans for him at the 2022 Indonesia Open.

Yuta Watanabe and his partner, Arisha Higashino, will compete in the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Open 2022 today, Friday (17/6/2022).

Yuta/Arisa are scheduled to play Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue (France) in the first match of the last 8 of the 2022 Indonesia Open on field one Istora Senayan, Jakarta, at 13.00 WIB.

Previously, Yuta had an extraordinary experience at Istora Senayan. Yuta just had his 25th birthday on Monday (13/6/2022).

On Tuesday (14/6/2022), fans sang a happy birthday song right after Yuta/Arisa’s victory over Robin Tebeling/Selena Piek (Netherlands) in the first round of the Indonesia Open.

When met by the media crew, including Kompas.com, the bronze winner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was amazed and very happy. He did not expect the fans to celebrate his birthday too.

“I’m really happy, I didn’t expect it to be celebrated like this. Of course this is the first time and it feels amazing,” said Yuta Watanabe, Thursday (16/6/2022).

Previously, Yuta Watanabe said he had also received various gifts from Indonesian fans.

Yuta said fans gave a number of unique gifts, such as a miniature key chain, puppets, and T-shirts.

“Yesterday, I got a lot of the most interesting gifts, such as a keychain in the shape of my picture,” he said.

Talking about homeland fans, Yuta is happy with Istora’s public support for increasing his and Arisa’s confidence when competing.

Yuta also hopes that he can become a champion in front of thousands of spectators who support him.

“It’s great to be supported by many people here. Hopefully tomorrow (today) many will also support it and because the support of Indonesian fans adds to our confidence,” he said.

“Last year in Bali (Indonesia Open 2021) there were no spectators, now there are. Arisa and I want to be champions here,” said Yuta.
