Heim pushes 3; Rangers run over Tigers

DETROIT (AP) — Jonah Heim doubled and homered for three RBIs, and the Texas Rangers beat the Detroit Tigers 7-0 on Friday night for their sixth straight loss.

Jon Gray (2-3) pitched seven shutout innings to end a five-start winless streak. He dished out six strikeouts and didn’t walk.

Ace Tarik Skubal (5-4) allowed five runs and eight hits in five innings. The Tigers have been outscored 43 runs to seven in six straight losses, and have scored just one run in their last 35 innings.


Marcus Semien walked an early game and Corey Seager singled. Cuban Adolis Garcia added a double that went past Venezuelan third baseman Harold Castro to open the scoring.

Heim followed with a two-run double to put Texas up 3-0. Also on that play, the ball went where Castro was positioned.

For the Rangers, Cuban Garcia 3-1 with a run scored and two RBIs. Dominicans Ezequiel Durán 5-1 with a run scored, Leody Taveras 3-2.

For the Tigres, the Venezuelans Víctor Reyes 4-1, Castro 4-0, Miguel Cabrera 3-1. Puerto Ricans Willi Castro 4-2, Javier Báez 3-1.
