Heart of Causse. Open days at the badminton club

For a few days and until the end of June, the badminton club chaired by Jérôme Vereecque has opened its training sessions to the public. Hit hard by the Covid, many sports clubs have lost their licensees. This is the case of the badminton club of Labastide-Murat, as Jérôme explains to us with regret: “Before the crisis, we had 38 licensees, today we are barely 20. It is urgent. We must take take the lead and not wait for the next school year to promote this sport and our club. We need to find players”. The club has great facilities here in Labastide-Murat and has great support from the community of municipalities which provides Magali Escaih, sports educator. Badminton is a complete sport from head to toe and a sport that adapts to everyone’s abilities. “Complete yes, because all the muscles of the body are solicited, we will work on balance, coordination of movements. It is a sport that improves speed, endurance, dexterity and concentration and then it is playful”, insists Etienne Pluchon, one of the club’s musketeers” and to warn: “It is the sport that makes you age the longest. “A departmental tournament is scheduled for June 25 and 26 in Labastide-Murat with an outdoor bar”.

Lot Champion

She has stood out this season and she is the pride of her club. Yaëlle Pluchon received the Lot champion title, Minimes category. The young teenager started this sport in CE2. A great recognition for this passionate young lady. “She didn’t steal her title. She went for it. She’s pugnacious.” Schooled in 4th grade at Gramat College, Yaëlle, who is moving towards scientific studies, is part of the departmental selection. She participated in a stage of the regional circuit where she finished 2nd in her series. Suffice to say that she wears the colors of her favorite club. Please note that training takes place for adults on Mondays from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and for young people, Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Fridays from 5 p.m. at 19 ‘o clock.
