Hanover’s judoka are annoyed by the high home bankruptcy
Hannover. The disillusionment was written all over the face of coach Nick Bobrowski. With 4:10 his judo men had lost their Bundesliga home fight against SU Annen Witten. “That was definitely too high,” said the coach. Even though he was penultimate and had to play against the second in the table, the coach had expected more.

In the hall of Hannover 78, where hockey games are usually played, there were too many mistakes. “I didn’t have to say anything or rub salt in the wounds. Everyone was really annoyed about this defeat, which was too high,” said the coach.
It’s hot and noisy in the hall
After the opening defeat of Latvian Aigers Milenbergs (up to 90 kg), Goga Vardosanidze (up to 60 kg) and Nicolas Kunze (up to 66 kg) countered with victories, but a 3-0 lead was possible. Of the four other defeats up to the 2-5 half-time score, Dan Matuschowitz (up to 73 kg) was the most annoying. It was only determined at the end of the fight time on points. But Coach Bobrowski couldn’t coach his athlete. “It was way too loud, and most importantly, too many people were shouting in for something for Dan to do. That is not possible. He didn’t even understand my instructions,” said the coach.

He was able to remedy this situation after urgent words, but other points were lost unplanned. Milenbergs won his second fight, but this time Georgia’s Vardosanidze blundered. He actually had his opponent under control, but lost after a mistake. “But when men like that cry after a fight like that because they couldn’t help the team, then that shows real team spirit in the team,” said Bobrowski.
Olympic starter Igor Wandtke, who was not yet able to fight with the national squad after his training camp, also provided at least emotional support. But everything is useless. Of the remaining duels of the seven rematches, only Tom Moritz (up to 73 kg) won his fight.
Togetherness should bring success
“We get along well with the Witteners. I wish them the victory. But I would have given my team three times more success,” said Bobrowski. He couldn’t praise his team enough, who always lent a hand with assembly, dismantling, planning and implementation. “This is such an incredibly great team. I’m so proud of them,” said the coach.
This cohesion should now bring success in the following fights against the lower teams in the league – even if the cohesion took a break after this day of fighting. “For the graduation photo, they all didn’t want to touch or hug. But only because it was so unbelievably hot in the hall and everyone was completely sweaty,” says Bobrowski with a grin on his face.
