Growing the social mass is also one of the goals

The celebrated promotion to the First Division will lead to a new change of image of the stadium Montilivi in order to adapt to the needs of the category. The first announcement made by the club just the day after winning in Tenerife (1-3) was theexpansion of stadium capacity with the installation of retractable bleachers in the North Goal that would allow to grow in 2,200 more seats, happening in this way to have a capacity of 13,400 people. So, and waiting for the season ticket campaign for the 2022-23 season to start in the coming days, the forecast is that the social mass is increased again white-and-red that has more or less remained faithful since the first adventure of Girona in Primera in 2017. The goal is to achieve the highest social mass in the club’s 92-year history.

The bulk of the followers of the last year it was 9,100 subscribers and 9,800 members. At first, Girona feared for the possible consequences of the pandemic but finally the season could end normally and Montilivi has been able to count on one hundred percent of its capacity since last February. Even without the use of the mask it was mandatory for a long time. In the year 2021-22 the club collected the season ticket in two installments: the first, which was half the price, were exempt subscribers who compensated in the season ticket the accumulated balance of the previous frustrated for Covid; and the second was charged based on the number of matches each subscriber was able to attend. The fans were enthralled as the final stretch of the season approached and in the last game the record number of 11,303 spectators was reached, coinciding with the first leg of the play-off final against Tenerife (0-0). In the regular league it hovered between 6,000-7,000 people.

It is expected, therefore, to maintain it in the return of Girona to Primera. Especially considering the fidelity of recent seasons after the year of the first promotion there were about 9,000 subscribers; the next would close with 9,500; and in the other the record with 9,501 despite relegation to Second.

The club works with the idea of having more subscribers and partners than ever before. The subscription renewal campaign has not yet begun, but all indications are that despite the foreseeable price increase – as happened in the first two seasons in Primera – most members will respond to see the team compete between the best every fortnight in Girona. Aside from the new highs that may be there, which will surely not be few because Montilivi will have a capacity of 13,400 spectators. Preparations for the debut against Getafe have already begun at the stadium on the weekend of 21-22 August. First the playing field is being regenerated and then the retractable bleachers will be installed in the North Goal. Undoubtedly, one of the best successes of the club in recent years has been the increase in the fans who have mostly changed the shirts of Barça, Espanyol or Madrid for those of Girona.
