Itas Mutua Baseball Softball Club Rovigo continues its journey towards staying in Serie A baseball. Even the second round of Group E1 of the Poule Salvation smiles at the rossoblù, who against Brescia have caught a precious draw that keeps them away from the rear and from the risk of the playout. The two matches played on Saturday on the diamond in via Vittorio Veneto (in reality the home team was the Lombard one from the calendar, still struggling with problems at their sports facility) were exciting and fought: the first saw the Polesans win 10-8 , while the second brought the balance back into balance thanks to Brescia’s 9-7 success.
Defenses on the shields in the first innings of the day. Crepaldi does not concede anything to the opponent’s attack, the subsequent reliefs by Pietrogrande and the two brothers Lorenzo and Giacomo Taschin are also good. The pitcher from Brescia does the same well, at least until the fifth and sixth round, which instead sees the rossoblù attack take the chair: first Pizzoli and Lorenzo Taschin go to point, then it’s up to Buin, Nosti, Pizzoli again, Salvatore and Sandalo to arrive on the home staple dish. Match in the safe? Not really, because Brescia, thanks to some neglect of the Rovigo rearguard, goes back under the seventh inning, taking six points. The race remains open, but at the ninth round there are two more winning races of Itas Mutua Rovigo that dampen the new comeback attempt of the Lombards.

Similar in trend, but with reversed parts, game two played in the afternoon. Brescia moves the scoreboard by finding two points in the first inning. Rovigo, who ranks De Marchi on the mountain, then replaced by Muzzarelli and Pietrogrande, begins to reap the first fruits in the third thanks to a home run by Salvatore, but soon after collects another seven points that put the game decidedly uphill. The rossoblù comeback, however, was not long in coming: thanks to the winning races of Nosti, Salvatore, Gonzalez and Bravo, the Polesans made up for it. At the last resumption they create the conditions for the sensational overtaking, but only Salvatore’s new point arrives.

The balance for the rossoblù is however positive. Thanks to the draw with Brescia, the team of coach Soto Diaz remains at the top of the group, together with Poviglio and Ronchi dei Legionari. The Friulians will be the opponents of the next delicate challenge: a full success would allow Itas Mutua Rovigo to make a perhaps decisive leap towards salvation and continue to hope for qualification for the next Italian Cup, reserved for the first of each of the four groups of the Poule Salvation.
