The cyclists Aldemar Reyes and Rodrigo Contreras made it 1-2 and won gold and silver in road cycling for Colombia at the XIX Bolivarian Games.

“It was a pretty crazy race at the beginning. The escape did not suit us and we had to put the team to chase it. At the beginning of the climb we caught up with them and decided to attack to look for the medals”, said Reyes.

The race was held over a 170.8 kilometer route between the municipalities of Valencia, Aguas Blancas, Mariangola, Caracolí and Pueblo Bello.

In this way, the national team joyfully concluded the road cycling of the XIX Bolivarian Games Valledupar 2022.

Colombian cyclists registered a total of two gold, two silver and one bronze medals, being the most outstanding country in the discipline.

Colombia continued its devastating pace to achieve gold medals by winning one more in fencing.

The Colombian men’s foil team, made up of David Ospina, Jorge Murillo, Miguel Grajales and Santiago Pachón, did their best to win gold; the silver went to the delegation of Venezuela and the bronze to Chile.

In the mixed badminton team event, Colombia won the silver medal; the gold went to Peru and the bronze to the Dominican Republic.

But in the afternoon and evening more gold came in judo, with Arkangel Barbosa, at 73 kilograms, Cindy Mera, at 63 and Alexander Martínez, at 81 kilograms.

And skating would come, which delivered two more medals in the 10,000-meter elimination with Gabrilea Rueda, in women. Silver went to Gabriela Vargas (Ecuador) and bronze to Angy Quintero (Venezuela).

In men, Colombia neighborhood with gold and silver through Andrés Gómez and Juan Jacobo Mantilla. The bronze went to Chilean Hugo Ramírez.

And finally, karate do delivered two gold medals through Wendy Mosquera, in kumite -68 kgr and Juan Fernández, in kumite -60. And a silver through Shanne Torres, in kumite +68 kgr. The gold went to the Dominican Pamela Rodríguez.

The last gold medal of the night was awarded by the team artistic gymnastics. Peru was left with the silver and Panama with the bronze.

In this way, Colombia establishes itself in the medal table.
