Gimnasia and Platense woke up at the end and ended with a fair draw of 1 to 1

Gimnasia equaled 1 to 1 Platense on the night of Vicente López, in a match that had strong emotions in the epilogue. El Lobo had taken the lead with a great goal from Lautaro Chávez, who scored his first goal in the First Division, while Juan Cruz Esquivel put definitive figures for the third round of the Professional League.

With this result, Lobo maintains his unbeaten record in the competition (he adds eight without losing) and reaches five points in the standings. In addition, the alarms went off due to the injury -it would be a serious sprain of the right knee- of Cristian Tarragona, who left in pain and in tears.

Gymnastics, which did not show its best version in attack, was quite close to winning again in Vicente López, but Platense’s reaction prevented it, which reached the tie after an outstanding action by Juan Cruz Esquivel on the left.

Beyond the anger over the victory that escaped him, it hurt the Wolf a lot to have lost Cristian Tarragona, an emblematic player in his line of attack, due to injury.

It was no better than Platense. Nor vice versa. Pipo’s Lobo and De Felippe’s Calamar put together a first half with little attractive content. The two lacked precision to specify the offensive insinuations that quickly faded.

Cristian Tarragona, once again, was the best in Gimnasia for never resigning himself to losing contact with the ball. The issue was that Ramón Sosa, Eric Ramírez and Johan Carbonero did not accompany him in the effort or in the successes, which came into play much more than his fellow attackers.

In Platense, the incessant deployment of Iván Gómez was vital to push his teammates to Rodrigo Rey’s goal. But there were no very dangerous situations. They lacked saves of real merit, good shots from mid-range and effective dribbles. The zero to zero of that first part perfectly described what happened under the fog of Vicente López.

If, as is speculated, it was Johan Carbonero’s last match with the Mens Sana shirt (his contribution was scarce), there is no doubt that Gorosito will replace him with Lautaro Chávez. The youth, nicknamed La Joya, scored a great goal in the 37th minute of the complement with a great shot from outside the area.

At the end, there was the feeling that Chávez himself received a blow after releasing the ball that could have been considered a penalty, but referee Tello was not even invited to review the play on the VAR monitor.

Gimnasia will be local at the Bosque stadium the next date against Racing Club, on Monday June 20 from 7:00 p.m.

Highlights

Good first minutes for those led by Néstor Gorosito. Without speculating much, it was Gimnasia who had the initiative and the clearest was through a header by Eric Ramírez that Ledesma sent to the corner. Then it was Sosa who tried from a corner kick and again missed out.

After 10 minutes, the Wolf received his first call for attention. Bergessio out of skill won the ball from Rodrigo Rey and converted with an empty goal, but everything was annulled because in the center shot from the right the ball had been lost on the bottom line.

At ’15 Platense lost it again: the ball was left to Suso in the small area and he threw it over the crossbar. After that action, the Lobo goalkeeper requested medical assistance for an elbow that caused a cut near his head.

As the minutes passed, it became clear that Gimnasia was just an insinuation at the start of the game, although after half an hour of play the Albiazul cast grew again on the pitch and warned with a distant shot from Cristian Tarragona, that Ledesma controlled.

At the end of the first chapter it was again Cristian Tarragona who appeared alone and nodded at Ledesma’s hands. He was saved Platense.

El Lobo came out without variants to play the last 45 minutes. As happened in the first half, the Tripero team came out better and ‘9 Ramón Sosa took off with a bombshell -after slipping- and almost did not open the scoring in Vicente López.

Arriving at ’15 Gimnasia almost managed to break the parity: the scorer Cristian Tarragona made a great move, eluded a defender and fired a bombshell at the goal that Ledesma deflected with a great save. Seconds later Ruiz Díaz won from above and with a header he demanded Rey who sent her to the corner.

After this action came a hard blow for Lobo: Tarragona withdrew injured -with a lot of pain and helped by the doctor- and Franco Soldano entered in his place.

When everything seemed more uphill, “Joya” Chávez appeared, scoring a great goal in the 38th minute. The player who emerged from the lower triperas dominated on the edge of the area and with an accurate left foot he put it in the goal of goalkeeper Ledesma. It was the first goal in the First Division for the kid Lobo.

That is why Gorosito hit his chest, applauded the 21-year-old scorer from the Buenos Aires town of General Lavalle, while shouting at his aide-de-camp, Gustavo Zapata: “I told you, I told you…”.

However, Platense quickly came to a tie with another player who came from the substitutes’ bench, also 21 years old, like Juan Cruz Esquivel. After Squid’s goal, the referee put the whistle to his mouth and both shared points.
