On May 27, Lashenko visited the FIFA office in Paris to meet Infantino in person. One of the main topics of conversation was the construction of a national football stadium. Active work is currently underway on various details of this project, including the selection of the best possible site.
“In my opinion, we maintain regular communication and discussions with all potential parties regarding the stadium project, which is undoubtedly necessary for the development of Latvian football. Of course, FIFA as a partner in the implementation of such a grand project is very important to us. we are discussing several developments and current processes of this project, “said Lashenko.
“We are also keen to take the next steps in promoting football to children after the successful kindergarten program and UEFA Playmakers projects, and we are therefore very interested in the school football program offered by FIFA. We have already worked hard to talk to the Education and the Ministry of Science. “
During the meeting, the President of LFF expressed his readiness to host one of the finals of the youth or women’s national teams organized by FIFA in Latvia in the near future. The two presidents also discussed the co-operation between LFF and FIFA in the case with the possible participation of several Latvian clubs and football staff, in which the relevant FIFA opinion and decisions are awaited.
“We are well aware of the allegations that have been made. I have personally spoken to all parties involved. We are working with FIFA to clarify the circumstances and are awaiting appropriate decisions,” Lashenko added.
