Cyriel Dessers (27) will not play for Feyenoord next season. The Dutch first division team has informed Racing Genk that it does not light the purchase option of the deep striker. Dessers therefore starts preparing for the new season with the Limburg club.
Dessers turned out to be a real hero in Rotterdam last season. He was very decisive, especially in the Conference League, with some important goals. With 10 goals, he became the top scorer in the third European competition, which Feyenoord just didn’t win.
Feyenoord wanted to take over the Nigerian international from Racing Genk permanently, but it did not come to a deal with Dessers on a personal level. Today, the Dutch first division team announced that it does not take the purchase option lightly.
Dessers will therefore start preparing for the new season at Racing Genk next month. “We are already looking forward to the warm reunion in blue and white”, let the Limburg club know.

Dessers himself responded to the end of his period in Rotterdam on the Feyenoord website. “I had a fantastic time,” said the striker. “Last year I chose this club just before the market closed and that decision has been one of the best of my career. The whole season has been one big adventure, with the success in Europe and the wonderful interaction with the public there. proudly stand out. I will cherish jersey number 33 and Feyenoord for the rest of my life.”
