More than two years after the end of his career in the summer of 2020, Bundesliga club Werder Bremen will host a farewell game for striker Claudio Pizarro in September. In honor of the 43-year-old Peruvian, a selection of old friends and colleagues as well as the traditional FC Bayern Munich team will play against each other on September 24th in Bremen’s Weser Stadium. Pizarro played a total of 489 Bundesliga games for Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich and 1. FC Köln during his career. He was active in four different phases for Bremen and twice for Bayern. In the 2007/08 season, Werder’s record goalscorer also played for top English club Chelsea. Pizarro has been an ambassador for FC Bayern since the end of his active career.
