Ecuadorian athletes travel to Colombia for the Bolivarian Games

Quito, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina).- Several athletes from Ecuador are traveling to Colombia today to complete the delegation that will represent the country at the XIX Valledupar 2022 Bolivarian Games, whose official opening will be tomorrow, Friday.

A total of 259 competitors, 139 men and 120 women, are part of the delegation with the flag bearers Alexandra Escobar, the only Ecuadorian weightlifter who participated in five Olympic Games in weightlifting, and the boxer Gerlon Congo, outstanding in youth games.

The tricolor will be measured in 26 disciplines with representatives from Bolivia, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and the host nation.

Athletics, badminton, 3×3 basketball, bowling, boxing, speed canoeing, cycling (track, road, BMX, MTB), equestrian, fencing, artistic gymnastics, golf, judo, karate, weightlifting, wrestling and swimming (pool and open water), are some of the disciplines in which this Andean nation will participate.

Figure and speed skating, squash, taekwondo, field and table tennis, archery, sports shooting, triathlon, sailing and beach volleyball complete the list.

The delegation includes prominent figures such as weightlifters Neisi Dajomes (Olympic champion) and Angie Palacios, wrestlers Luisa Valverde and Lucía Yépez, golfer Daniela Darquea, cyclist Doménica Azuero, boxers Erika Pachito and María José Palacios, as well as swimmer David Farinango.

For athletics, Anahí Suárez, Katriel Angulo, Anderson Marquínez, Alan Minda, Steeven Salas, Dyander Pacho, Austin Ramos, among others, will compete.
