Dirk Kuijt is the surprising new head coach of ADO Den Haag | soccer Netherlands

ADO missed promotion by a hair’s breadth last season, but wants to return to the Eredivisie as soon as possible. They think Dirk Kuijt is the right man for that. He gets a season to prove himself.

“Dirk is a personality and a phenomenon in the football world. With his attitude and reputation he will inspire and motivate our boys”, explains general manager Edwin Reintjes.

41-year-old Kuijt, who as head coach only has experience with the U19 of Feyenoord for the time being, is ambitious: “The objective and ambition of the club appeal to me enormously and we will therefore ensure that we realize that ambition.”

Dirk Kuijt has had a long and successful playing career. He played 104 times for the national team and had great successes at Feyenoord, Liverpool and Fenerbahce, among others.

At ADO, he will be assisted by the experienced John Metgod, who previously served as the club’s technical manager.
