Grigor Dimitrov debuted on Tuesday in Wimbledon. The Bulgarian in 2022 had achieved good victories, although he needed to take that step in terms of regularity. Despite this, he arrived at the Wimbledon Grand Slam with a lot of ambition and it is that a priori he could be one of the covered in the draw. In his debut he faced Steve Johnson, a dangerous player on this surface, although over the years he had lost a lot of power on his serve, one of his best virtues. The numbers favored Dimitrov and he was once again the big favorite for the duel.

The American started with the initiative on the scoreboard, but soon began to suffer from the strength of the Bulgarian from the bottom of the court. Dimitrov got a break in the seventh game and after confirming it he left until 5-3. Winning the tenth game in white, he won the first set 6-4.

The problem for Dimitrov is that things started badly in the second round and the 3-0 set off the first alarms in Haskovo. Despite recovering distance on the scoreboard, Johnson left until 5-2. At that time Dimitrov for a groin injury had to withdraw from Wimbledon. Things are still not going well for a Dimitrov who was very excited about the third Grand Slam of the season, but he will have to continue fighting for the rest of the season to try to get back to that desired top ten.
