Angel Di Maria not sure to join Juventus. The Argentine winger is still waiting for Barcelona’s proposal.
Di Maria left Paris Saint-Germain this summer on a free transfer after his contract was not renewed. The Bianconeri will reportedly be the 34-year-old’s next destination.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Di Maria does not want to rush to establish himself in a move to Turin. He seems to prioritize moving to the Spanish League, and wants to see first how big the prospect of a move to Camp Nou is.
Di Maria’s chances of going to Barcelona are expected to be even greater if Ousmane Dembele does not stay and they fail to acquire Raphinha from Leeds United because of the cost. Currently, these two options are difficult to realize for Barcelona.
Dembele has had a more attractive offer outside of Spain, and Barcelona have been reluctant to follow the Frenchman’s wage demands. Meanwhile, the 55 million euro fee that Leeds asked for was not something Barcelona could meet.
If in the end the two options fail to materialize, then Di Maria can fill the vacant winger position. At his current age, he is indeed eyeing a club that can give him more playing time in order to maintain his physical condition ahead of the 2022 World Cup in November.
Di Maria played for Real Madrid in 2010-2014, but moved to Manchester United because he ‘felt betrayed’ by management who did not give him a new contract. Therefore, it is believed that he will not be trapped in a ‘conflict of heart’ if he joins Barcelona.
